In a swift action, the Niger State Police Command has nabbed two suspects, Musa Audu, 43, and Abdullahi Garba, 45, after they attempted a burglary in Minna. The incident took place in the Brighter Area, where the duo allegedly broke in through a window to steal various household items including a plasma television and aluminum pots.

The suspects were caught red-handed thanks to alert neighbors, who notified the police in a timely manner. By the time officers arrived at the scene, Audu and Garba had already loaded their stolen items into sack bags. The police quickly apprehended them without further incident.

Spokesman for the Niger State Police, Wasiu Abiodun, provided details about the arrest. He stated that the police operatives from Chanchaga Division acted quickly to detain the men on April 30, 2025, at approximately 11:45 AM. Abiodun noted that the suspects had taken advantage of the absence of law enforcement at the time.

In his remarks to Arewa PUNCH, Abiodun explained the process of their apprehension. “The suspects reportedly broke into a residence within Brighter area. They stole a 35-inch plasma TV, a remote controller, and two aluminum pots, concealing their loot in sacks. Community members played a critical role in their arrest by alerting the police. They are now undergoing questioning at Chanchaga Division and will be brought to court soon for prosecution,” he said.

In a separate incident, the police arrested a 32-year-old man named Danrani Usman from Gengi village, accused of stealing 50 sheep. This theft allegedly occurred with the help of an accomplice, Isah, who remains at large.

Abiodun elaborated on the sheep theft as well, stating that police operatives from ‘B’ Division Kontagora, in collaboration with local vigilantes, apprehended Usman on April 27, 2025. They discovered the stolen sheep in his possession. He has reportedly admitted during questioning that he and Isah conspired to take the sheep from Yangalu village in the Magama Local Government Area.

“Ongoing efforts are underway to locate Isah, while investigations into the cattle rustling case continue. We are committed to ensuring justice is served,” Abiodun assured reporters.

The Niger State Police recently made significant arrests, capturing two burglars and a sheep thief amid timely community assistance. Musa Audu and Abdullahi Garba were apprehended while attempting to rob a Minna residence, and Danrani Usman faces charges for sheep theft.
