Allegations of Assault and Vehicle Damage: LDEA vs AFL Incident Review

Hassan Fadiga, former LDEA Deputy Director, alleges assault and vehicle damage by AFL soldier Sergeant Joseph Broh after a confrontation on February 21. The AFL denies these claims, asserting that Broh was injured during the incident. Investigations by police are underway as both parties await further developments.
Hassan Fadiga, the former Deputy Director for Operations at the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), accused AFL soldier Sergeant Joseph Broh of assault and vehicle damage on February 21. Fadiga reported that around 4:45 p.m., after encountering a vehicle blocking his exit from the VOA community, he faced verbal insults and aggressive gestures from Broh.
In an effort to defuse the escalating situation, Fadiga claims he used pepper spray on Broh. Allegedly intoxicated, Broh responded by drawing a knife, attempting to stab Fadiga, which resulted in breaking his vehicle’s rear window. Fadiga stated that he fled to avoid further confrontation while Broh continued to attack his vehicle.
Fadiga contacted the police after the incident but mentioned being detained by AFL soldiers for several hours, facing threats during this time. He and a companion were later taken for safety to the Zone 8 police station, where he accused AFL personnel of obstructing the investigation. The AFL has denied all allegations made by Fadiga concerning the incident.
Major El-Dorado Nyanti Jebboe, an AFL spokesperson, stated that the allegations against the AFL were baseless and reaffirmed the military’s dedication to the law. The AFL also mentioned that Sergeant Broh suffered injuries that required treatment, and he tested negative for alcohol and drugs afterwards. The AFL suggested that Fadiga and his associates instigated the conflict by verbally attacking Broh and using pepper spray.
Both Fadiga and the AFL await a police investigation to clarify the events that transpired. The AFL expressed their commitment to fully cooperating with the inquiry, highlighting the instability surrounding their personnel’s involvement in the situation.
The incident involving Fadiga and Sergeant Broh raises serious allegations of assault and vehicle damage, with conflicting accounts from both parties. Fadiga claims hostile actions led to his defensive spray and damage to his vehicle, while the AFL rebuts these claims, emphasizing their operations and care for Sergeant Broh. Ongoing investigations aim to bring clarity to the situation.
