Wife Charged in American Missionary’s Murder in Angola

Jackie Shroyer has been charged in the murder of her husband, Beau Shroyer, an American missionary killed in Angola. The inquiry, ongoing with collaboration from the American embassy, reveals a potential romantic motive and significant funds involved. Pastor Troy Easton stated the couple’s children are under family care, and he encourages prayer for justice and truth.
Jackie Shroyer, the wife of Beau Shroyer, an American missionary fatally wounded in Angola last October, has been formally charged in connection with his murder. The incident occurred on October 25, 2024, in a remote region of Africa. The Lakes Area Vineyard Church confirmed her arrest, indicating she is now a co-author of the crime.
Pastor Troy Easton of Lakes Area Vineyard Church expressed sorrow over the charges against Jackie, stating, “It saddens me immensely to have to share with you that we were notified that Jackie has been formally charged as a co-author in the murder of her husband.” He noted that her custody will continue until her trial.
Court proceedings are expected within six months, although no specific date has been established. In November, Jackie, along with Bernardino Elias, a former security guard for the Shroyers, was detained. A fourth individual linked to the case remains at large.
Reports from SIC indicate that Jackie purportedly offered $50,000 for her husband’s murder amidst allegations of an affair with Elias. Manuel Halaiwa, an SIC spokesperson, suggested that emotional motives tied to this relationship could be pivotal in the ongoing investigation.
Evidence from the crime scene included an American-made knife and a significant sum of four million and five hundred thousand kwanzas. The investigation is still underway, with SIC collaborating with the American embassy to uncover further details.
Despite the unfolding legal situation, the couple’s five children are reportedly under the care of their extended family, receiving support from SIM and Lakes Area Vineyard Church. Pastor Easton urged the community to remain steadfast in faith, stating, “Please continue to cling to the Lord and His unchanging character, nature and love and continue to pray for truth to be clear, for justice to be served and for God’s kingdom to come and will to be done.”
The tragic case of Beau Shroyer’s death has taken a shocking turn, with his wife Jackie accused of conspiring in his murder. The investigation reveals complex personal motives, and multiple suspects have been arrested as authorities continue to pursue justice. The community is coming together to support the Shroyer children amidst these distressing circumstances.
