The Racing Association of Maldives has gained FIA membership, enhancing motorsport development in the country. This membership grants access to global resources and international recognition, enabling RAM to promote competitions and improve infrastructural development while focusing on environmental sustainability and road safety programs.

The Racing Association of Maldives (RAM) has received membership approval from the International Automobile Federation (FIA), marking a significant milestone. This approval occurred during the FIA Annual General Meeting in Rwanda on December 13 of the previous year, allowing RAM access to a global platform for motorsports.

President Mohamed Shamih highlighted that this membership will provide RAM with unprecedented opportunities to promote motorsports across the Maldives. With FIA membership, RAM gains access to valuable resources, international recognition, and protections for local competitions that align with global standards.

Membership benefits include the opportunity for RAM to participate in FIA development programs and international competitions. Additionally, RAM aims to enhance motorsports infrastructure, such as developing tracks and training centers, while ensuring environmental sustainability.

Furthermore, RAM plans to collaborate with local agencies to promote road safety awareness and create training opportunities for motorsport athletes nationwide. Since its establishment in 2018, RAM has successfully organized numerous tournaments, despite facing challenges, including a recent police halt to the 2024 RAAS Championship.

Despite these setbacks, RAM clubs and athletes have actively participated in international events, achieving notable success, including reaching the semi-finals of the Drag Wars held in Sri Lanka.

The Racing Association of Maldives has achieved a significant milestone by becoming a member of the FIA, unlocking new opportunities for development in motorsports. With international support and recognition, RAM plans to improve local infrastructures, enhance safety awareness, and facilitate training programs. Despite past challenges, RAM continues to strive for excellence in the global motorsport arena.
