DHL is enhancing its commitment to Thailand through Strategy 2030, aiming to establish the country as a regional logistics hub. This strategy focuses on addressing key economic megatrends such as global trade, e-commerce, and sustainability. DHL plans to leverage geographic advantages and expand its involvement in the renewable energy and e-commerce sectors while making significant investments in infrastructure and sustainable logistics initiatives.

DHL has announced its commitment to enhancing its operations in Thailand as part of its Strategy 2030 – Accelerate Sustainable Growth. This strategy aligns with positioning Thailand as a key regional logistics hub, amidst the ongoing transition towards more resilient supply chains in the Asia Pacific region. The approach focuses on addressing five main megatrends affecting the Thai economy: Global Trade, E-Commerce, Sustainability, Digitalization, and Evolving Workforce.

In addition to these trends, DHL recognizes geographic opportunities, particularly amidst shifts in trade flows and supply chain diversification. Leveraging Thailand’s robust automotive and electronics manufacturing bases, which contributed to a 5.4% export growth in 2024, DHL aims to capitalize on this potential. Major markets such as the US, China, Japan, and the EU, alongside emerging markets like the UK, drive this growth.

DHL also sees potential in the renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) sectors, with plans to support Thailand’s ambitions for EV production through logistics solutions. The government’s efforts to attract EV manufacturers strengthen DHL’s position in the Southeast Asian market. DHL offers extensive supply chain solutions to help Thailand achieve its goal of having EVs represent 30% of vehicle production by 2030.

The expansion of e-commerce in Thailand, projected to grow from $26.5 billion in 2023 to $32 billion by 2025, presents another growth avenue. DHL supports the country’s vibrant SME sector, which makes up a significant portion of the national GDP. Programs like GoTrade aim to assist over 9,000 SMEs globally, helping them navigate international trade effectively. DHL’s eCommerce arm is designed to provide robust, affordable delivery solutions for businesses entering the Thai market.

DHL has demonstrated ongoing commitment to Thailand through significant investments and operational footprints. Employing over 9,300 individuals across its divisions, DHL operates more than 678,000 sqm of managed warehouse space in Thailand, including facilities in the Eastern Economic Corridor. Its extensive transport network facilitates an impressive number of daily vehicle loads while focusing on sustainable operations, including an ambitious plan to increase its electric vehicle fleet by 300% over the next three years.

The company’s logistics network includes a regional hub at Suvarnabhumi Airport and a new International Multimodal Hub, enhancing trade capabilities by streamlining transport modes and customs processes. DHL Express supports international door-to-door express deliveries with a 100% solar panel equipped service center network.

On the sustainability front, DHL aims for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. There is a significant push towards vehicle electrification, with DHL Express Thailand leading the charge by being the first in the country to integrate e-bikes and an electric vehicle fleet for deliveries. DHL Supply Chain further pushes this commitment by sustainably modernizing transportation and warehousing practices across its operations.

With initiatives spanning all divisions, including the introduction of electric fleets and sustainable fuel options, DHL underscores its leadership in the green logistics space. Plans include significant increases in EV usage and the development of Thailand’s first fully renewable energy warehouse by 2025, alongside more sustainable freight processes and innovative logistics solutions.

DHL’s Strategy 2030 showcases the company’s commitment to establishing Thailand as a pivotal logistics hub while addressing key trends in global trade, e-commerce, and sustainability. Through geographic advantages, advancements in renewable energy, support for the SME sector, and significant infrastructure investments, DHL positions itself for growth in Thailand’s evolving logistics landscape. The commitment to sustainable logistics further reinforces DHL’s role as a leader within the industry, ensuring continued environmental responsibility and operational excellence.
