Miguelys Centeno, a 21-year-old Venezuelan woman, is presumed dead after disappearing two weeks ago, prompting the Guyana Police Force to issue a wanted bulletin for the suspect. Police crime chief Wendell Blanhum reported that suspected skeletal remains were discovered at the 9 Mile, Mabura trail during a patrol. They are pursuing DNA testing through the Guyana Forensics laboratory to confirm if the remains are indeed Centeno’s, who was last seen entering the suspect’s truck.

The police bulletin announced the man, Fernando Teles Pereira, a 37-year-old Brazilian, is wanted for Centeno’s murder, which allegedly occurred on February 20 in Diamond, East Bank of Demerara. Pereira’s previous addresses are in Guyana and Brazil. Centeno’s mother, Yuhengris Gerdez, voiced her distress, stating her daughter consistently kept her updated about her plans, emphasizing, “I’m a desperate mother wanting to know what happened, what happened to my daughter.”

On the day she disappeared, Centeno was seen boarding a truck driven by Pereira around 9:30 AM after her shift at a bar in Eccles, East Bank Demerara. Typically, she would stay at a friend’s house after late shifts before returning home to Timehri. However, this time she did not return, leading to the investigation and search for her.

While awaiting DNA results, investigators noted that the clothing found near the remains matches what Centeno wore when she was last seen. The discovered skeletal remains had braces, similar to those Centeno used to wear, and jewelry items were also found with the body. The family has expressed deep concern and is demanding justice, emphasizing their unfamiliarity with the suspect, and calling for him to face consequences for his alleged actions.

The case of Miguelys Centeno highlights the tragic circumstances surrounding her disappearance and presumed death, leading to widespread concern and a police investigation. The identification through forensic evidence and the ongoing search for the suspect remain crucial in seeking justice for her family. The community and family are calling for action to ensure accountability for these alleged crimes.
