During a recent meeting with Burkina Faso’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President Mahama emphasized the importance of trade relations. He indicated that enhancing air connectivity would be a core component of the discussions on bilateral trade improvements.
In addition to the air travel initiative, energy cooperation was also a focal point of the talks. President Mahama mentioned plans to boost Ghana’s electricity exports to Burkina Faso and improve pathways for petroleum product transit, including extending the existing pipeline from Bolgatanga to Ouagadougou. This extension aims to streamline the supply of fuel and diesel between the two nations, following the recent acquisition of a fuel storage terminal by Burkina Faso.
