Riibe is not a suspect, and law enforcement is continuing the investigation with multiple agencies involved. The family of Riibe requests privacy during this challenging time.

A Minnesota college senior, identified as Joshua Riibe, is currently a person of interest in the disappearance of Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old student from the University of Pittsburgh. Konanki went missing during a spring break trip in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, a week ago. Law enforcement indicates that Riibe might have been the last person to see her prior to her disappearance, although he is not classified as a suspect.

St. Cloud State University confirmed that Riibe, 22, enrolled as a land surveying and mapping sciences major in 2023, hailing from Rock Rapids, Iowa. Chad Quinn from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office clarified that while Riibe is regarded as a person of interest due to his possible presence with Konanki, he is not accused of any crime regarding her missing status.

An aunt of Riibe, Theresa, expressed the family’s distress, stating, “Our family is going through a very difficult time right now, and we’re experiencing a lot of sadness and pain. We kindly ask for privacy as we navigate this challenging moment together.” Moreover, Dominican police are continuing to question those who were with Konanki before her disappearance, with the FBI also involved in the investigation.

Konanki vanished after a power outage forced hotel guests to the beach on March 6, yet Riibe was not with her party at that time. Her parents have arrived in Punta Cana seeking to expand the investigation since she was last seen on March 3 with five other students on their trip.

The investigation into Sudiksha Konanki’s disappearance highlights the role of Joshua Riibe as a person of interest, while emphasizing that he is not a suspect. The family of Riibe asks for privacy during a distressing period, and authorities continue to pursue leads in collaboration with the FBI. As the investigation develops, the focus remains on ensuring the safety of all involved.
