The Texas Tech SGA announced its 2025 election results, with Faith Geistweidt as the student body president and Crispus Ankomah as graduate vice president. The new leadership aims to promote transparency and increase student engagement, starting their term on May 1, 2025.

The Texas Tech Student Government Association (SGA) announced the results for its 2025 elections via live stream on Thursday afternoon, following a previous shutdown on Wednesday. Crispus Ankomah, a graduate student from Ghana, won the contested race for graduate vice president, while Faith Geistweidt, a junior majoring in agriculture and applied economics, was elected as student body president in an uncontested race.

Geistweidt emphasized her commitment to enhancing transparency from the SGA to the student body, especially through effective communication on social media. She expressed the importance of keeping students informed about SGA initiatives and daily operations. “Being able to tell students what Student Government Association is doing… is really important for students to know,” she stated.

Addressing issues related to declining senator retention and recruitment, Geistweidt stated that one of the key initiatives for Internal Vice President-elect Madeline Clark will focus on transparency and retention. Possible incentives may be introduced for student senators, such as early class registration or scholarships, to boost engagement. “I think it all boils down to transparency,” Geistweidt remarked regarding SGA’s communication goals.

The new term for Geistweidt and the 61st session will formally begin on May 1. Additional executive results include Jackson Bentley as External Vice President and Madeline Clark as Internal Vice President. The senator positions have been filled as follows:

DCASNR Senators: Brooke Reininger, Wes Shaw, and others.
