Investigation Reveals Abduction and Trafficking of Young Boy to Libya

The DCI has arrested a human trafficker linked to the kidnapping of an 18-year-old boy who was trafficked to Libya four years prior. The boy’s family paid a ransom for his release but he remained captive. He eventually escaped to Tunisia and contacted his mother.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported the arraignment of a human trafficker linked to the case of an 18-year-old male who disappeared four years ago. At that time, the victim was just 14 years old, studying at Mandera DEB Primary School. Following his mysterious disappearance in 2021, his family extensively searched for him, eventually uncovering that he was being held captive in Libya.
This incident highlights the dangers of human trafficking, particularly among vulnerable youth. The investigation led to the arrest of key suspects, although it remains unclear if the victim has fully reunited with his family. Continuous efforts are essential to combat trafficking and ensure the safety of children and young individuals.
