23 Coaches Earn Level 3 Netball Coaching Certificates in Malawi

A total of 23 netball coaches from Malawi have earned Level 3 Coaching Certificates after completing a one-week training at Bingu National Stadium. NAM stresses the importance of these coaches in nurturing young talent, while upcoming Level 2 coaching courses are scheduled to enhance training further across the country.

Twenty-three netball coaches in Malawi’s Central Region have graduated with Level 3 Coaching Certificates following a one-week training held at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe from February 24 to March 2, 2025. This program aimed to enhance their skills and knowledge in further developing grassroots netball.

The General Secretary of the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM), Yamikani Kauma Khungwa, emphasized the importance of these newly certified coaches in fostering young talent, specifically children aged 5 to 17. He expressed pride in their achievement and anticipation for the positive impact they will make on promoting netball among youth.

Cecilia Mtukule Bondo, a student in the Commonwealth Women in Leadership program, facilitated the training as part of her project, highlighting the significance of empowering individuals through such initiatives.

Following this graduation, NAM will offer Level 2 netball coaching courses starting in the Northern Region from March 7 to 16 at Katoto Secondary School, continuing in the Central Region from March 10 to 19 at Bingu National Stadium, and concluding in the Southern Region from March 24 to April 2 at Blantyre Youth Centre.

The newly graduated Level 3 coaches are set to begin their roles immediately, focusing on netball development in primary and secondary schools throughout the Central Region of Malawi.

In summary, the graduation of 23 coaches marks a significant step for netball in Malawi, highlighting NAM’s commitment to grassroots development. The incorporation of qualified coaches trained in Leadership and diverse facilitation techniques enhances prospects for upcoming young athletes.
