The Kingston Western Police have arrested 29-year-old Shevaughn Alexander Carnegie, also known as ‘Demon’ and ‘Negie,’ in connection with a murder that took place nearly seven years ago. He has been charged with the murder of Oral ‘Ruff’ Francis, an assistant coach, who was shot dead on May 18, 2018, while at his gate in Arnett Gardens, Kingston.
Francis was targeted by an assailant armed with a firearm who shot him multiple times in the upper body at around 8:00 am. After the incident, the gunman fled the scene on foot. Francis was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Kingston Public Hospital shortly after being transported there.
Following extensive investigations, Carnegie was apprehended recently and placed in an identification parade last Thursday, where witnesses identified him as the shooter. Carnegie now faces charges for murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
