Suspect Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident Involving Officer

Dillon Reid, 25, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after his involvement in a hit-and-run that killed Constable Linroy Codner in October 2024. The incident occurred when Reid’s vehicle struck Codner during a police operation. Reid abandoned the vehicle and later turned himself in. He is set to appear in court on March 12, 2025.
The suspect in the hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a police officer has been arrested and charged. Dillon Reid, a 25-year-old from Blackshop district in St James, now faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, following a ruling from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution on February 21. Reid is tied to the death of Constable Linroy Codner, who was injured during a police operation on October 4, 2024.
On the day of the incident, Constable Codner attempted to stop a white Toyota Probox, which initially slowed but then accelerated, striking him and causing him to fall approximately 50-70 feet down a precipice. Despite receiving treatment for serious brain injuries after being taken to the hospital, Codner tragically passed away on October 20, 2024.
After abandoning the vehicle at his residence, Reid evaded immediate capture but surrendered to authorities the next day, accompanied by his attorney. He was formally charged on February 28 and is expected to appear in the St James Parish court on March 12 to address the charges.
