Uzbekistan Becomes Key Production Hub for Chevrolet Tracker Crossover

Uzbekistan has become the main production center for the Chevrolet Tracker in Eurasia, following the cessation of production in China due to declining demand. The localization level of Tracker assembly in Uzbekistan is at 50%, while production continues in Brazil and Argentina.
Uzbekistan has established itself as the primary production hub for the Chevrolet Tracker crossover in the Eurasian region. This shift occurred following the decision to halt Tracker production in China due to decreasing domestic demand, leading to the closure of the SAIC-GM Norsom plant, which previously manufactured the vehicle.
General Motors recently announced the shutdown of its facility in Shenyang, China, which produced both the Chevrolet Tracker and Buick GL8 minivans for the local market. With Uzbekistan’s production facilities now operational, the localization level for Chevrolet Tracker assembly has reached 50%, showcasing significant progress in domestic manufacturing capabilities.
In addition to Uzbekistan, the Chevrolet Tracker is also produced in Latin America, with assembly operations ongoing in Brazil and Argentina. This broadens the vehicle’s availability and supports regional markets effectively.
In summary, Uzbekistan’s emergence as a major production hub for the Chevrolet Tracker highlights a strategic shift in production due to market conditions in China. The localization of production has reached notable levels, while the vehicle continues to be produced in other regions, confirming its global manufacturing presence.
