India House participated in the 2025 Inlander Restaurant Week, offering a $35 menu featuring appetizers like subudana pakore and singhara aloo tikki, main courses such as Chicken Methi Mali and Methi Matter Mali, and desserts like carrot cake halwa and paan ice cream. Open Tuesday through Sunday, reservations can be made online or by phone.

As the inaugural food writer for the Inlander, I eagerly anticipated my experience at the 2025 Inlander Restaurant Week. My sister and I ventured to India House, located at 4410 S. Regal St., to explore their $35 per person menu, beginning with two appetizers that perfectly ignited our appetites. The subudana pakore, fritters made from tapioca, potatoes, and fresh herbs, and singhara aloo tikki, with water chestnut flour, were beautifully presented alongside a variety of flavorful dipping sauces.

For our main courses, I chose the Chicken Methi Mali, and my sister opted for the vegetarian version, Methi Matter Mali, featuring tofu and green beans. Both dishes featured rich red curry infused with fenugreek and ginger, served with naan and rice. We selected a medium spice level, allowing the flavors to develop gradually without overwhelming our palates.

For dessert, I indulged in carrot cake halwa, made with roasted carrots, nuts, and cardamom, offering a crumby but moist texture. My sister chose the unique paan ice cream, which was an exhilarating blend of betel leaf, rose petal jam, and candied fruits, served in a chalice-like bowl. Despite its unusual flavor profile, the refreshing taste encouraged us to savor every bite.

During Restaurant Week, India House offers its standard menu alongside the special $35 menu from Tuesday through Sunday, 11 AM to 9 PM at three locations. It is advisable to make reservations via phone or their website at indiahouse.us.
